Hello Sunshine Layout

by Aimee Dow

Hello there stampers, to be honest I’ve never considered myself much of a stamper. In fact before joining the Altenew Design Team, I owned just two ink pads. A black and a grey. What a difference a year makes. I report back to you today, to tell you I now own more than 40 ink pads. So after this layout I’m officially going to call myself a stamper.

The photo for this page makes me laugh, it is quintessentially Eva. She was never really a smily baby. But always had to be in the thick of things, observing and exploring. The problem with scraping the photo though, is that it’s fairly devoid of colour with very high contrast.

From the very beginning I knew that I wanted to create a bright and colourful layout to make the photo pop and so that it would match the rest of Eva’s album. I started by stamping out my flower beds with the Hello Sunshine Stamp Set. I’m SO in love with this stamp set. And I can see myself using it on project life spreads in the future as it has a surprisingly minimal scandinavian feel. I’d also love to use it again with a muted color palette or even just Red and Blue.

After my garden beds where stamped out, I began the task of watercoloring my flowers. Let me just say, I now get why people buy adult colouring books. I found the whole process strangely meditative. Because of this small fact, I may have dedicated a lot more time to it, than I would usually put in to a layout.

I used a piece of crimson paper from the Refections Scrapbook Kit, cut in to strips to make my layered garden beds.

The final touch was to nestle in my stamped title and add the cool asterisk shapes. Hand to heart, this would have to be the most enjoyable layouts I have created for Altenew. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if you see this stamp set creep in to more of my layouts in future.

Such lovely and colorful layout! Funny, it’s like you’ve described my baby girl, she was never really a smiley baby either, but always curious and observing 🙂
