All About Fussy-cutting!

by Vincenza Gudor
Hello everyone! Enza here, and today I am sharing a layout that is all about fussy-cutting.

This is one of my favorite techniques, as it allows me to be creative and achieve a unique look every time. I used some patterned papers in the Reflection Scrapbook Collection, which includes gorgeous floral images in soft and pretty colors. The layout was inspired by the shirt my daughter is wearing in the photo. I can’t believe how perfectly colors and pattern matched the ones in the scrapbook kit! I started by fussy-cutting all my elements. The idea was to create clusters on both sides of the photo.

Here is a tip that I find very helpful when fussy-cutting: stay as close to the edge of the shape you are cutting as you can. It is more forgiving than trying to leave a thin border πŸ˜‰

Once I found a placement for the flowers, I added some die cuts from the same kit and made sure to create dimension with foam adhesive. The large strip of paper under the photo brings all the colors together, and also gives the impression of petals falling from the pink flowers. I decided to back it with a black and white striped paper for some contrast.

The title and the chipboard camera piece serve as a contrasting element as well. Some fussy-cut butterflies and splatters of Ocean Waves spray ink finished the layout.

I hope you’ll give this technique a try. So many different looks can be achieved by just varying the placement of the fussy-cut pieces.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a lovely day!

Your layout is amazing. I’ve never stamped on a layout like this but I love the look! Your fussy cut details add a cohesive finish to the page. Great job and an amazing memory well documented!
