Terhi Koskinen here again inspiring you with another simple scrapbook layout. Just like the layout I showed you earlier this month, I also made this one at Creative World in Frankfurt last January.
The inspiration and starting point for the layout was creating it by using patterned papers in more than just one way. Obviously, there is one paper in the background and, to be honest, it’s patterned paper too – just the backside is showing here, as I didn’t have any white cardstock with me! Then, there’s also paper layers behind the photograph, that’s the most familiar technique for me to do with patterned papers. But I didn’t want to stop there and made a couple of layered squares. First, I added the squares to the background, but it looked like it needed something more so I cut out some beautiful roses by using one paper from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection.
After having enough papers, I added one beautiful plastic butterfly (also from the Reflection Scrapbook Kit) and a couple of enamel dots. The layout looked a bit boring – way too monochromatic for my taste back then, so I grabbed some watercolors next to me and started to paint. I mixed purples, blues and greens, made the layout come to life, and now I’m happy with it! Making this one taught me a great lesson: having a lot of embellishments isn’t that necessary every time and you can go quite far with just papers.
Hope this kind of simple page inspires you too!
Thank you for stopping by.
