Art Journaling on Black Cardstock with Ink Sprays

by Zinia

Hello, Altenew fans! It’s Zinia here and today I’m back with another mixed media project using my favorite Altenew stencil and ink sprays.

I always enjoy experimenting on different surfaces so I decided to play with my ink sprays on some black cardstock. Since the ink sprays are shimmery and very pigmented, they show up beautifully on dark backgrounds.

Art Journaling On Black Cardstock with Altenew Ink Sprays @altenewllc @ziniaredo #altenew #ziniaredo #mixedmedia #artjournaling #art #artjournalMy first step was to apply some Pure White Ink Spray through the Watercolor Bouquet Stencil and since this is a layering stencil, I started with the bigger image.

This is one of my most favorite techniques when it comes to stencils as you can create gorgeous watercolor effects without any effort.

After the white layer dried, I turned my stencil around and I applied some red and green inks through the smaller opening. In this step, you can understand how much difference it makes to use a paintbrush to apply the color. I can make sure the green ink only stays on the leaves and stems area, while my red adds a beautiful tint to the actual flower.

Once I was done with the flowers, I loved this page so much that I had to call it done. I think it looks stunning in its simplicity and any additional elements will just be excessive. If you are a cardmaker you can definitely recreate this design and add a sentiment in the middle to turn this into a card or just frame it and use it as home decor.

I really hope you enjoyed this project and you got inspired to create something fun with your favorite Altenew supplies. Until next time! Happy crafting.
