Hello, Altenew friends! Nathalie here sharing a project that features contrasting colors in a scrapbook layout. This time, I am featuring Altenew’s Build-A-Flower: Hellebore Set. I chose this stamp set as it layers easily with great realistic results and also features lots of movement in its design. Here is a more detailed look at the Build-A-Flower: Hellebore.
The movement on the flower ‘s design helps create movement on the design, which adds to the focus of the page. Let me show you:
The key to contrasting colors in a scrapbook layout is to create a dynamic background; this will enhance the color of the rest of the page. My choice is always a bit of mixed media, in this case, a dark background with a bit of texture.
I chose to start with white cardstock and added splashes of Jet Black Liquid Watercolor Brush Marker Refill – on it. I added a bit of texture using the Square Weave Pattern Stencil and Embossing Paste, which in turn adds another layer of contrast to the background.
The Rose Petal, Red Sunset, Pocketful of Sunshine, Green Fields Mini Ink Cube sets were used along with the Build-A-Flower: Hellebore Set to create all the flowers for the page. The colors are vibrant and show vividly against the dark background. This contrast brings the focus to the picture of my niece and her funky sweater and cute smile.
All the movement in the floral clusters matches the curves of the Fancy Hello Die Set and Across the Pond Stamp Set, thus adding to the movement on the page. The combination of textures and colors in the title work also adds to the contrasting impact of the page. The following video will show you how the page came together. Watch it here or on YouTube.
I hope this inspires you to add contrasting colors on your next scrapbook layout! Thanks for stopping by!
