Jen Schow Guest Designer

Get to know Jen!

My name is Jen Schow and I’ve been scrapbooking since I was 12. I have a true passion for creating and telling my story through words + photos + pretty products. I’m especially a huge fan of anything floral! I also enjoy card making and recently took up watercolor and I’m obsessed! I love sharing my projects on Instagram, on Facebook, and especially on my YouTube channel. You can find links to all of my social media at craftyjenschow.com!

Jen’s “Friends” Layout

For my project as a guest designer for Altenew, I wanted to focus on the amazing Floral Flurries Washi Tape. I think I want to wallpaper my craft room with that tape! It’s so absolutely gorgeous. Instead, I decided to use it on a layout. 😉

For this page, I adhered the washi tape to some white cardstock and punched it out in 1.5” and 2” circles. I added the circles in a brick pattern above and below my photo.

I added a title using some chipboard letters and the Block Alpha Stamp Set – this time without the shadow. I created an ombre look by stamping it in three different colors and I adhered the letters to the bottom of my photo.

I also added in some hearts that I created by scribbling with the Watercolor Brush Markers in Rubellite, Midnight Violet, and Autumn Blaze and then punching them out. Easy and pretty!

You can see how it all came together in the process video. But first, one more project!

Jen’s “Winter Hugs” Card

I was so excited to try out the new Watercolor Brush Markers and ironically, I used the Spring Garden Set to make this pretty card with a winter scene.
I started with some watercolor paper and stamped a house from the Neighborhood Stamp Set in a light brown ink. I stamped it off a few times so it would be even lighter because I’m just using it as a guide and wanted to paint over it. I masked the bottom because I wanted it to look like there was a layer of snow over the front of the house.
I covered up my stamped house with a mask and painted the sky first, using mostly the Dusk Watercolor Brush Marker and some water. I added some trees with a mix of Moss and Emerald, concentrating on a clump of trees surrounding the cabin. I then painted the cabin brown with the Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set and added some light in the window too.
I added some “snow” with white acrylic paint and made my sentiment with a combination of my handwriting (winter) and a stamp from the Sentiments & Quotes stamp set (HUGS). I’ll walk you through the entire process in the video!
You can watch both the videos below or on Altenew’s YouTube Channel.
